CLEVELAND – Today, Kevin Kelley proudly received an endorsement for Mayor of Cleveland from two prominent local leaders from the Glenville neighborhood: Yvonne Conwell, who represents the people of District 7 on Cuyahoga County Council, and Kevin Conwell who represents the people of Ward 9 on Cleveland City Council.

“This endorsement is a reflection of our shared commitment to the City of Cleveland and our shared priorities for improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone who calls Cleveland home,” said Kevin Kelley, currently President of Cleveland City Council.

Kevin Conwell, a member of Cleveland City Council since 2001, and Kevin Kelley first met when Kelley was president of the Board of Directors of the May Dugan Service Center and Conwell was advocating for the Fatherhood Initiative. Colleagues on Cleveland City Council since 2005 when Kelley was first elected to office, Conwell cites working with Kelley on the Right to Counsel legislation to help residents avoid eviction as one of the many ways Kelley fights for the people of Cleveland.

“Kevin Kelley believes in Cleveland, and he’ll understand from Day 1 how to get the job done,” said Kevin Conwell. “I served with him on the Finance Committee when he was chair. Kevin Kelley helped the city stay solvent during the Great Recession because he understands the budget. He knows how to put systems in place to get things done.”

County Council Member Yvonne Conwell has worked in partnership with Kevin Kelley on issues that have a tremendous impact on Clevelanders, including infant mortality, lead poisoning, and the need for emergency shelter for families and children.

“I am proud to endorse the future Mayor of Cleveland Kevin Kelley. He works in collaboration with all of us in local government on behalf of the people we serve,” said Yvonne Conwell. “Kevin Kelley is someone you can count on to partner with you to address the important issues facing our community.”

In addition to the Conwell’s, Kevin Kelley has announced endorsements from the Association of Cleveland Firefighters IAFF Local 93, Plumbers Union Local 55, and Pipefitters Local Union 120.
