Kevin J. Kelley Receives Endorsement for Cleveland Mayor from Pipefitters Local Union 120

CLEVELAND, OH – April 29, 2021 – The Pipefitters Local Union 120 announces their endorsement of Kevin J. Kelley for mayor of the city of Cleveland. This is the first union endorsement received by any candidate for mayor of Cleveland in the 2021 race.

“I am honored to receive the Pipefitters’ endorsement for Mayor of Cleveland,” says Kevin J. Kelley. “As Mayor, I will continue to focus on issues that affect hard-working Clevelanders and promote initiatives designed to support working families.”

In an endorsement letter, Neil J. Giering, Business Manager/Financial Secretary-Treasurer of Pipefitters Local Union 120 states, “I am confident that, if elected, working families like ours will have a champion in you [Kevin J. Kelley] for Cleveland and the State of Ohio.”

Giering points to Kelley’s work as President of Cleveland City Council and his support of strong labor protections for workers, including prevailing wage and the use of project labor agreements. He notes, “Simply put, you have a proven track record of and a strong commitment to standing with working families and the Brothers and Sisters of Pipefitters Local 120.”

Kelley’s experience working with labor unions provides him with valuable insight into the issues working families face, as well as how strong workforce protections can benefit the entire community.

“Hardworking Clevelanders are the backbone of our City and our economy,” says Kelley. “They deserve fair wages and benefits that help them support their families and thrive.”
