CLEVELAND – Kevin Kelley’s campaign for mayor continues to build momentum with an important endorsement from Ward 7 Council Member and former mayoral candidate Basheer Jones. Today, Council Member Jones, along with a host of Ward 7 residents and supporters, announced his support for Kevin Kelley at Carrie Cain Playground, located at E. 79th Street and Pulaski Avenue.

“This race is not about race but about renaissance, results, and resources. President Kelley and I have worked together to build parks, create jobs, and bring development to my neighborhood. His work as a social worker, Councilman and Council President gives him the experience to understand what it takes to lead our city to the next level,” said Jones. “I will work with the future Mayor to ensure that my community’s concerns are heard and addressed. President Kelley has always been a man of his word and soon he will have the seat to implement change.”

Jones points to Council President Kelley’s partnership and leadership on Council that helped spur nearly half a billion dollars of investment in Ward 7.

“I want to thank Councilman Jones for his support and for standing with me as I work to become Cleveland’s next mayor,” said Kelley. “His commitment and passion for making Cleveland a stronger, safer city for the residents of Ward 7 and all who live in Cleveland comes through in everything that he does. It’s this kind of partnership and collaboration that will really move our city forward.”
